9/8/2000: Also Hitachi and IBM will make portable with the Crusoe

    It seems that finally the microprocessor Crusoe de Transmeta, famous person for his low consumption and for being the first programmable microprocessor for PC, has received the confidence of the manufacturers of portable.
    It is already not a question only of projects: Hitachi to confirmee that his first portable one with the Crusoe will go out to the market in November, and that also will use this mike in devices of low cost to gain access to Internet, governed by the operating system Linux.
The Register does to himself echo of a rumor as which IBM would throw at the end of year a portable, called ThinkPad 240 X, with the Crusoe.

9/7/2000: Basic badges with memory DDR at the end of October

    Diverse sources make sure that the new generation of basic badges with support of memory DDR-SDRAM will be free approximately at the end of October, once the chipsets for the same ones enter production at the end of September.
    According to these informations, the most anticipated chipsets would be the AMD and ALi for badges Athlon, the AMD 760 and ALi ALiMAGiK 1. ROUTE would glide to throw earlier his chipset DDR for mikes Intel, continued quickly by the chipset for AMD Athlon.
    All the big manufacturers (ASUS, Gigabyte...) have projects in march for these badges. Because the modules of memory DDR have more contacts (184) that the current DIMM of memory SDRAM, the first badges perhaps have configurations for both types of module, as it has happened other times (the well-known badges with grooves SIMM of 30 and 72 contacts, or with grooves SIMM and DIMM).

9/6/2000: The AMD Duron reaches 750 MHz

    On Monday AMD announced that his new microprocessor Duron reached the 750 MHz number , what the posiciona as the mike "of consumption" more rapid. The Duron includes 192 KB of integrated cache memory (128 KB of cache memory L1 and 64 KB of cache memory L2) and uses the new format Socket A, in basic badges with chipset ROUTE KT133.
    Intel should worry for the heyday of the Duron, since all the analysts of the market coincide that it is a question of a microprocessor much more rapid than Intel Celeron, between other motives because incomprehensible the Celeron keeps on using a 66 MHz bus , while the rest of mikes Intel works to 100 133 MHz, and the AMD Athlon and Duron to neither more nor less than 200 MHz.
    The new Duron will have a price of 181 $ in quantities of 1.000 units; his yield estimates environment to 90 % of that of an Athlon Thunderbird, also present in format Socket A, what allows an easy future update of the teams.

9/5/2000: Intel, NVIDIA and ATI are employed at the AGP 8x

    It seems that the specifications go more rapid than the manufacturers, the AGP is still not implanted 4x and they are already going to double the speed...
    Intel is employed at the new specifications, destined to double the band of the current graphic cards in his communication with the memory of the system, coming up to 2 GB/s, to 533 MHz.
    ATI has announced that his future models RADEON will use the above mentioned technology, reaching (according to ATI) "unimaginable realism levels in real-time thanks to the big band of the memory". Other manufacturers as NVIDIA supports this evolution of the AGP.
    ... In any case, it seems that enough still stays to reach the wide ones of memory that are achieved using the memory integrated to the graphic card, especially if it is a question of memory DDR. Will so many "x" be in practice an advance merely of marketing, or will it serve as anything?
