Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS Pro:
pure potency or with anti-aliasing

His publicity in CsH

"Classic" tests

To prove this card we have used the following material:

  • Microprocessors: AMD Duron to 700 MHz and 850 MHz
  • Motherboard: ABIT KT7-RAID (chipset ROUTE KT133)
  • Memory: 256 MB of SDRAM PC133 with CAS = 2
  • Card of reference: Hercules 3D Prophet II MX (GeForce2 MX 175/183 MHz)

If someone throws in absence a "more rapid" (?) microprocessor, which does not worry: these Duron have a really excellent yield, and also inside very little we will publish tests to more enough than 1 GHz.

To start we have used 3DMark2000 of, that although it does not stop being a "synthetic" test, yes uses skills used in a lot of different real games:

Comparative of the yield in 3DMark2000

Impressive, truth? In my opinion, 3DMark2000 it even puts excessive emphasis on the microprocessor and his speed, so there is not doubt that we are before very different graphic cards. It seems that the price difference has certain justification...

Next, we have realized the habitual tests battery to different resolutions in the well-known one it shoots - a-todo-lo-que-se-mueva Quake3 Sand; ah, with the activated sound: although it lowers a little the yield, sincerely I do not find the utility to know how much one can be played in a mute Quake...: or to 640x480 in 700 MHz mikes or more, or to only 16 color bits!

Comparative of the yield in Quake3 to 1024x768 and 32 bits

Comparative of the yield in Quake3 to 1280x1024 and 32 bits

Comparative of the yield in Quake3 to 1600x1200 and 32 bits

Again, an almost absurdly high yield. The reality is that few people play a top resolution to 1024x768 píxels and 32 color bits, for which a GeForce2 MX is more than sufficient; and the fact is that it is necessary to have a truly big monitor and of quality to enjoy the top resolutions, which with certain games and PCs are not inaccessible for the MX either.

And why does it serve then so much potency? Very well, apart from for the one who yes possesses the suitable monitor and the desire of making use of it, it allows to use anti-aliasing in the applications 3D, as we will see next.
