The first used test has been 3DMark 2000, a test that even being "synthetic" (that is to say, that it is a question of a more or less artificial test, not of a program of real use) represents enough good the yield esperable in the modern games 3D (not in vain it departs from the test consists of a few scenes piloting a combat helicopter and in a species of "graphic adventure"):

The verdict? Sweet and sour, undoubtedly: with the TNT2 Ultra, 13 % more rapid than the overclockeada tackles BX; with the internal checker, 268 % slower than the badge ROUTE (yes, it is not an error: 268 % less). Before starting already, we were afraid that it would spend this, since the graphic controler of i815E is based on the chip i752, what is equal to be anchored in a quite distant past.

But after everything 3DMark it is a synthetic test; what would happen in a game 3D really like Quake 3 Sand? Since also we have analyzed it:

We have used the "Normal" way (640x480x16 bits) so that the factor limitante was the chipset, and not the graphic card. Throwing calculations, it goes out for us that in a real game the ABIT SE6 with TNT2 Ultra turns out to be 12 % more rapid than the BX, but with his internal checker it is neither more nor less than 123 % slower than the ROUTE.

Before these numbers, I believe that the comments remain... well, the only one more: in "High Quality" (800x600x32 bits), the internal checker of i815E of the ABIT SE6 reaches 16,8 fps, which represents just the limit of the jugable.


More on the ABIT SE6

Very well, the comparative tests were finished; but before going to the conclusions, we are going to comment on some interesting aspects on the badge that has supported the weight of the comparative one, the ABIT SE6.

First, to say that his overclocking options, as it corresponds to ABIT, are quite wide: configuration in the BIOS (without jumpers); 30 bus speed options (between 66 and 153 MHz); adjustment of the speed of the memory (to approximately 100 ó 133 MHz); and adjustment of the voltage of the mike.

It does not exist overclocking of MHz in MHz (the version of the SoftMenu is the IInd, not the IIIrd), what probably should to the recent thing of the chipset i815E, but the options are more than sufficient; after everything, if a badge or mike fail with a bus of, we say, 143 MHz, I would put 140 just in case.

And since we have observed, the stability seems exceptional in a badge with such a recent BIOS. Not only it turned out to be perfectly stable at the 733 MHz normal speed (133x5,5), but there was no most minimal mistake up to 800 MHz (145x5,5 and memory to 145 MHz), and with a minimal increase of voltage and lowering the speed of the memory (or buying memory PC133 CAS2 of high quality, perhaps) there was no problem in overcoming 825 MHz.

Ah, on the topic of the memory: the BIOS indicates his speed to itself in like xxx MHz (FSB:SDRAM:PCI), which can seem slightly strange at first. For example, 140 MHz (4:4:1) it would mean that the bus (Federal Security Service) and the memory SDRAM go to 140 MHz, while the PCI goes to 1/4, that is to say, to 35 MHz; 140 MHz (4:3:1) it would mean that the bus (Federal Security Service) goes to 140 MHz, the memory SDRAM to 3/4, that is to say, 105 MHz, and the PCI to 1/4, that is to say, to 35 MHz.


Conclusions and evaluation of the SE6

Let's go on parts; at this point it seems obvious that the answer to: is it the chipset i815E a good option opposite to the BX and the ROUTE Apollo Pro 133rd? it is: yes, undoubtedly it it is, whenever we use a graphic card AGP.

With the internal checker the chipset keeps on being a very good option, but only for users ofimáticos or domestic (supposing that the domestic user in accordance with playing at a few rather low levels). An advantage of the chipset i815E would be the fact of being able to save in the graphic paragraph at the moment of the buy and update later to a graphic card 3D really decently.

Because everything seems to be summed up in a cost question; as we were saying in our article about i815/815E: "they turn out to be advisable for almost all the users, BUT depending on his PRICE. The question is that the chipsets ROUTE are very cheap and of quite reasonable yield, while the Intel usually cost more; and it is of supposing that to incorporate a graphic checker, is used or not, it costs a money that Intel is not going to give". Since that...

And as for the ABIT SE6 like motherboard, only it is necessary to qualify it of advisable. It is not a revolution as the first badge without jumpers or the first one with adjustment of MHz in MHz and adjustment of voltages of I/O, but yes a badge with very good characteristics, design and stability.

It does not cut away in important options like the number of grooves PCI or of memory (although yes in questions as the termistor or the connector extra USB), and one has very good stability (at least the one that we have proved) to be his first BIOS. The BE6-II supported perfectly the AGP with 33 % of overclocking...: but the fact is that it had the seventh review of his BIOS installed!

So if he wants the maximum possible yield at any price for a mike Intel, already it has an appropriate motherboard. The rest of the mortal ones whom the relation quality / price worries to us only we have left to see what final price will have on the market... and to hope that it should not be very high.
